  • Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

  • Clinical Massage

Clinical massage involves addressing the deeper muscles of the body compared to a relaxation massage being performed with a very light touch on the surface of the skin. The therapist needs extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology and addresses the joint range of motion limitations. Clinical massage treats the soft tissues of the body with a combination of techniques that include myofascial release, trigger point therapy, Swedish massage, Fascial Stretch Therapy,  mobilization, and hydrotherapy. The massage aimed at correcting soft tissue imbalances and dysfunctions.

  • Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a very specialized form of massage therapy. A therapist trained in NMT is educated in the physiology of the nervous system and its effect on the muscular and skeletal systems. The Neuromuscular Therapist also is educated in kinesiology and biomechanics and how to work in a clinical or medical environment.

By definition, Neuromuscular Therapy is the utilization of static pressure on specific myofascial points to relieve pain. This technique manipulates the soft tissue of the body (muscles, tendons and connective tissue) to balance the central nervous system. In a healthy individual, nerves transmit impulses (which are responsible for every movement, function and thought) to the body very slowly. Injury, trauma, postural distortion or stress cause nerves to speed up their transmission, inhibiting equilibrium and making the body vulnerable to pain and dysfunction. It is therefore necessary to stabilize low levels of neurological activity to maintain normal function and overall health.

Neuromuscular Therapy will be used to address five elements that cause pain:
Ischemia: Lack of blood supply to soft tissues which causes hypersensitivity to touch.
Trigger Points: Highly irritated points in muscles which refer pain to other parts of the body.
Nerve Compression or Entrapment: Pressure on a nerve by soft tissue, cartilage or bone.
Postural Distortion: Imbalance of the muscular system resulting from the movement of the body off the longitudinal and horizontal planes.
Biomechanical Dysfunction: Imbalance of the musculoskeletal system resulting in faulty movement patterns (i.e., poor lifting habits, bad mechanics in a golf swing or tennis stroke, computer keyboarding)

  • Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing “trigger points” in your body.  Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body.  These ‘knots’ are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.  During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points.  This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

  • Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics.  Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term.  Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates.  Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.

  • Rapid Release

Helps in relaxing muscles and relieving minor aches and pains.

  • Deep Muscle Stimulator

Deep Muscle Stimulator (DMS). The DMS uses percussion, mechanical vibrations that reach deep into the muscle tissue to stimulate proprioceptive functions. Much of muscle pain stems from various conditions such as strain, lactic acid build up, and scar tissue. The DMS reaches deep into muscle tissue to relieve these conditions.

What does the DMS (Deep Muscle Stimulator) do?

The DMS provides deep muscle tissue stimulation with kinetic forms of percussion and concussion vibration, which in turn facilitates the patient or athlete with the benefits of:

    • Increased circulation
    • Reduced pain
    • Faster rehabilitation from injury
    • Increased lymphatic flow
    • Break up of muscular scar tissue
    • Reduced lactic acid build up
    • Tissue Regeneration
    • Soft & Active tissue release

The combination of DMS with a massage, whether it is a sports massage or just relaxing a tight muscle will help the muscle to stay relaxed.

The DMS also concentrates on general or local muscle spasms. It increases muscle metabolism and increases the lactic acid cycle to relieve pain. Deep, rapid, short-duration percussion is the key to the elimination of pain. The DMS can be used in effective management of acute and chronic pain, not exclusive to, but including: migraine headaches, sciatica, TMJ, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, bursitis, edema, myofascial pain and frozen joints.

The DMS is known to increase the circulation of blood and flow of lymph. The direct mechanical effect of rhythmical pressure and movement used in DMS can dramatically increase the rate of blood flow. The stimulation of nerve receptors causes the blood vessels to dilate, which also facilitates blood flow.

The DMS can help loosen contracted, shortened muscles and can stimulate weak, flaccid muscles. This muscle “balancing” can help posture and promote more efficient movement. DMS is also being used for Integrated Manual Therapy and Musculoskeletal Dysfunction.

The DMS also aids recovery from soft tissue injuries such as sprains and strains. This is possible because the growth and repair of tissue are accelerataed by efficient circulation in the injured areas and appropriate stimulation of the healing tissues.

It is possible to do more exercise and training, which in the long run strengthens muscle and improves conditioning. DMS also provides a gentle stretching action to both the muscles and connective tissues that surround and support the muscles and many other parts of the body, which helps keep these tissues elastic.

Where not to use the DMS (Deep Muscle Stimulator) Contraindications:
On the eyes, teeth, breast implants, cancerous cells, reproductive organs (male and female), electronic devices such as pacemakers, any prosthesis, screws, plates, juvenile diabetic, women who are pregnant, stress fractures or fractures, or open wounds.

  • Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

  • Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage is a form of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women.  Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes.  Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, Pregnancy Massage helps alleviate discomforts experienced throughout the pregnancy.  The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues.
